Description
IGF-1 LR3 Overview
IGF-1 LR3 is an 83-amino-acid synthetic polypeptide engineered to get around limitations of native IGF-1. It carries two modifications: an arginine in place of glutamic acid at position 3, and a 13-residue N-terminal extension (MFPAMPLSSLFVN).
These changes reduce binding to IGF binding proteins (IGFBPs) by around 100-fold while keeping full receptor activation, which gives it greater bioavailability and a longer half-life than native IGF-1. Research models examine tyrosine kinase signaling, the PI3K-Akt and Ras-MAPK pathways, substrate uptake, protein synthesis and cell proliferation.
IGF-1 LR3 Research Focus
Published laboratory and preclinical work on IGF-1 LR3 has concentrated on the following areas:
- Tyrosine kinase receptor signaling
- PI3K-Akt and Ras-MAPK pathways
- Protein synthesis in experimental models
- Effect of reduced IGFBP binding
